Ensuring you find the right size vent is critical, not only for functional purposes but for aesthetics as well. The first step is figuring out if you are replacing an access panel, exhaust fan cover, air supply vent or an air return vent and the second step is understanding how to and where to measure that vent or cover for the correct size needed.
Access Panel
To ensure you select the correct size access panel, measure the drywall opening width and height. You must consider the accessible opening you require to access the service area behind the panel. When selecting the correct size panel, the Envisivent access panel is 2” less than the required drywall opening.

Exhaust Fan Cover
To ensure you select the correct size exhaust fan cover, remove the existing exhaust fan cover to reveal the unit. Measure the drywall opening based on the width and height and be sure to consider the drywall opening required for the exhaust fan cover you have chosen. You must determine the accessible opening you require to access your fan unit.

Air Supply Vent
To ensure you select the correct size air supply vent, measure your duct opening based on its width (longer side) and height (shorter side). Envisivent removable products may require you to cut a larger drywall opening than the actual size of the duct as Envisivent products need a minimum of ½” drywall thickness to be installed. Your inside duct size should closely match the Envisivent product size.

Air Return Vent
To ensure you select the correct size air supply vent, Measure your wall cavity or duct opening (if applicable) based on its width (longer side) and height (shorter side). If your duct works comes out to the face of the drywall, you may have to cut back the metal a ½” to allow enough depth for the vent to fit flush against the drywall. If the duct cannot be modified, please contact Envisivent to discuss custom options.
